The Early Childhood Education program prepares students to work with young children in a variety of early learning and child-care settings. Through study of such topics as Child Development; Child, Family & Community; as well as practical exposure through practicum placements at child-care agencies, students gain the knowledge and experience needed to be early childhood educators. Graduates receive a Early Childhood Education Certificate (Basic) I certification.
This program is designed for those who wish to qualify as early childhood educators in daycare or preschool centres. You may work as an assistant while attending classes. The program does not qualify students to teach in the public school system. The successful completion of 15 courses (including 9 weeks of practicum time) is required for licensing by the Community Care Facilities Branch.
This program is accredited with the Private Career Training Institutions Agency.
